my car is throwing a check engine light 22 which is the vtec pressure valve does anyone know how to fix this and if this would be a reason why my vtec is not working. is there any other reasons that you can think of that would not allow the vtec to kick in. would buying a new vtec solinoid would fix the whole thing. if so does anyone know a site that sells a vtec solinod for a jdm b16a second gen. any help would be great thanks in advance.
ur prolly low on oil.. try topping it off.. theres is also a screen between the vtec solenoid and head.. try taking it out and cleaning it if it is clogged

VTEC WILL NOT ENGAGE WITH A CEL. ALSO YEAH JUST TAKE THE SOLENOID OF OF THE HEAD, CLEAN THE SCREEN, THERE IS ANOTHER SCREEN IN THE TOP PART WHERE THE ACTUAL SOLENOID IS (THE ROUND THING ON TOP , JUST TAKE THE BOLTS OUT)

this sounds like a stupid question but what does the screen look like. is it the rubber grommet? i took the vtec solenoid off the head of the engine and where is the screen. im sorry for asking this stupid question. i took the top part of the solenoid and there was a rubber grommet there thats where i thought the screen was a grommet. thanks for the help so far.
jdm engines do not have a vtec pressure switch. if you're using a usdm ecu it will look for this switch, which isnt there, which would set off the CEL. dos your's look like this?

thanks for your help thats what my vtec sol. looks like. ill take a look at the link and let you know if it works. thanks again.
don't quote me..but i believe I ran into the same problem with a USDM ECU. I ran the wire back behind the block and tapped into a oil pressure sensor on the back of the block.
(it was 2 years ago...so i may be off..but I believe that solved the problem)

now i have another question. i did an engine swap and this might be a reason why it is messing up. i have a 95 integra ls with a jdm b16a sec gen engine. and usdm ecu, and the engine wiring harness is the ls wiring harness because the other harness that came with the engine was cut to pieces. i found a site that shows how to wire in the vtec. these are the wires that i have attached and there pins. pin a4 to the vtec solenoid, pin d6 to the vtec oil pressure sensor(which i dont have so that is the problem. it goes into a clip with another wire that is a ground.) then d3 goes into knock sensor. then there is also a wire attached to the pin d6 for the ground as i said before. with the site that was given to me said to " i just cut the a4 and d6 wires on the connector and solder them together and this will give me my missing vtec. is it really that simple?" im i suppose to take pin a4 and d6 twist them together and attach them to one wire that goes into the vtec solenoid? and what do i do with the wire that goes with the ground which goes to the "vtec oil pressure sensor"? i dont know what to do.
this is a link of the picture that im using because i dont know how to insert a picture on to this site.

I think the two wires your soldering together does exactly what I have done in the past. Running the Vtec pressure sensor wire to the back of the block was probably just the same as you soldering A4 and B6 together.
