Vacuum leak need help ASAP!!
So I’m dealing with a vacuum leak many people have heard it and said that’s a leak, the new news is that it’s my manifold, bolts weren’t tightened al the way but when we tighten them the car won’t start!?!? What do I do? If we tighten them while the car is in higher rpms it deals the leak but letting off the throttle causes it to die, this is my dd please help ASAP thanks, logan

Re: Vacuum leak need help ASAP!!
Car also sounds like it has a misfire, replaced the plugs wires cap and rotor and no change... could this leak be causing it? Cylinder two plug was white while the others were a good brownish green color like their supposed to

the bolts on the back of the intake manifold, and he could have adjusted it, he told me he fixed the idle bounce by doing something but I’m not sure what he did

Re: Vacuum leak need help ASAP!!
Sounds like you/they are tightening down the Idle Air Control Valve (pics would help). If that is leaking, you'll get bouncing and high idle. If you tighten that down and the engine dies, then it's not getting enough air through the idle screw. DL a shop manual and confirm you are setting the idle correctly. The IACV has to be bolted down to do that, and no vacuum leaks.

Sounds like the IACV had a leak, make sure the IACV plug is plugged back in, sounds like he left it unplugged.

Re: Vacuum leak need help ASAP!!
just discovered it’s unplugged, but it runs worse with it plugged in?!?!? It has a huge idle bounce with it plugged in and doesn’t run good but unplugged it runs fine, also my evap sensor is broke off and there are no hoses comming to or from it so that could also be a problem, still confused why the car won’t run with that bolt tightened tighter than hand tight?

Re: Vacuum leak need help ASAP!!
You most likely have the wrong IACV for the car if it's running worse with it plugged in. There's a difference between OBD1 and OBD2 IACVs. Also, if your evap sensor (purge valve solenoid) is broken off then wouldn't that be where a vacuum leak is?? And yes, it should let you post pictures. Not sure what you're doing wrong

Re: Vacuum leak need help ASAP!!
There's a chance you have the wrong plug plugged into the IACV there's another plug that shares the same shape I think its the IAT sensor and sometimes they get switched because they can reach each other, look around and see if there's another plug or try the IAT sensor.

Re: Vacuum leak need help ASAP!!
Sounds like its the IACV still, Check the wiring to the plug! see if it runs with the IACV unplugged. Sounds like its shut closed and only way to keep it to idle is to hold the throttle open, the IACV allows enough air to pass through to keep the engine at idle at 850rpm and if its closed it wont let the engine stay on. make sure the IACV has a good rubber seal, the new one should of came with one.

Re: Vacuum leak need help ASAP!!
OKKKKKkkkkk guys I finally got the courage to stop throwing parts and to spend the cash and take it in. Glad I did!! Took about an hour of labor and a timing tool lol. Got it to idle timing was way off. Halfway down the road it stopped idling again, took it back the next morning (this morning) and we decided to take off the valve cover to look at the belt and cams and my exaust cam was one tooth off, therefor delaying the exaust gasses and causing all my problems, paid 235 for a Little over 3 hours of work and the timing adjustment. All I have now is a oil leak from the o ring in the oil cooling system and that’s 6 bucks shipped. Got one tonight should be here Friday and I’ll have a great running daily again. First time in a year, and he’ll it runs good I’m so pleased
