Is it an upgrade or a downgrade?
Running a B18B year 2000 with an auto tranny. Doing a tranny swap using the 96SPEC ITR/CTR, but I've seen some good deals on the B16A with the CTR tranny and all necessaries.
Would it be a downgrade to go from the torquey B18B to the Higher end power B16A w/VTEC? Obviously engine size is also a factor and the block size. I was planning on doing LS/VTEC but I just wanted to see what others had to say before I bought anything.

lsvtec b18b block with vtec head would be better then the b16. the b18b stock versus b16 stock the b16 will take it go lsvtec. also the b16 and itr tranny have the same gearing but the itr one comes iwht lsd.
I thought the CTR did come with a Honda OEM LSD? The one I am looking at does, has R4 LSD labeled on the main housing. Granted I am ordering it from Japan, so I haven't had the chance to look yet.
Our cars weigh too much for the low torque of the b16 in my opinion.I would rather have the b18b which dynos anywhere from 20-30 tq more.I know a ls engine with a b16 tranny compared too a civic si,would romp it pretty bad.In the quarter that is.
