type -r block for 500$ ????????????
hey, someone i know is sellin a type-r block for 500$.... here is the catch.. he was bringin it to a shop and he was in a rush and it fell off the back of his truck.... it looks like its in ok shape.. my friend is gunna take it to his machine shop and take a look at it and see if it can be used.. my question is what r the chances of it being fucked up... and if it is fucked up should i still buy it for the pistons and the rods etc... he says it only had 3k miles on it but idk how true that is.. the insides look very clean though... any comments would help thanks!
i replied to your post in the tech forum.. i didnt even realize you wanted to put this in your ls... you could basically use your block and build it into an r block.. put the rods/pistons crank, girdle, oil/water pump and NEW bearings and a new gasket kit and have a new R block... just with a sleeper b18b block stamp

hehe drill for oil...
well i do belive that its not as simple as putting the oil squirters in there.. . i know it can be done however.. even if you dont bother with this (you wont need the squirters if you were to run forged pistons) putting in the higher pressure oil pump stronger rods higher cr pistons and much better crank you would feel a difference.
you still wouldnt have vtec however... you would have to put a vtec head on it for that... it would just be a very well built ls motor...
