Default Trans problems help!

Hey I have a 96 GSR motor mated to a B16B Transmission, the other day I was driving home and the car made a light popping sound and would not engage any gears. I could physically shift the car into the gear but I would not get any power to the wheels... it would just rev like it was in neutral. So I figured it was the clutch/pressure plate, I just finished swapping those parts out tonight. Everything looked good when I took the old parts out, except for an axle which was broken inside the cv boot. I went to test drive it and everything was going fine until I heard that popping sound again and It's back to square one... It will not engage gears again >< Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

What do you wont engage in gear? As in you can't shift from gear to gear?

The broken axle needs to be replaced.

Id have to say its you Diff or a broken countershaft, or Finial Drive gear. That would be the only thing to make all the gears not work, since you just replaced the clutch and PP. I have some extra Diffs lying around if you need any, and CS too. No LSD's though.

Yea, I was thinking that might be one of the issues. But the same thing happened about 4 days ago before I swapped everything out... then the car drove for about 4 minutes with no problems until I heard that light popping sound again... and then the car would not engage again.

And to moua, I can put the car in any gear, but when I let the clutch out it's like the car is still in neutral and just revs...

Have you ever broken an axle before? When it's busted it is no longer attached to anything. You will be able to get into any gear but the car will just sit there.

And according to your description of a busted axle in your OP I would check that out first before assuming a busted differential.

I have not no... I'll pull the axles off tomorrow, my schedual is pretty tight with work. I always assumed the motor would still turn the spindle even if the axle was broken and tear the cv boot.... if that makes any sense. Thanks for the help again. Will get back to you with any updates tomorrow. I also replaced the axle that felt broken to a new one during the clutch swap.

If you have already replaced the broken axle then your problem lies within a broken Diff, countershaft, etc.

Still check the axles again. Maybe an issue with bad axles or in the diff
