I have searched and searched, read countless different atricles, followed the step by step instructions from everywhere I can find and I still can not get the tranny off the block. Its a 98 GSR motor. I suppose there is a chance that I havent gotten every bolt, but I have been looking over every square inch of the motor for the last threee hours and I am 99% sure everything that is supposed to be off is off.
Any help/advice would be appreciated.

the mounts could be in the way. is it moving at all? also the sheild at the bottom of the tranny thats attached to the block and tranny which covers the flywheel could still be bolted. also i dont no what its called but the front cross member has 2 steel bars comming off of itand the passenger side bar could be holding it in place. take sum pics and post them up and let us know if its moving at all.

I dont have the ability to take pictures now, but I am trying.
As for the motor, yes the whole thing is moving, the tranny is free of all the mounts, but it is only moving as part of the motor. I cant even get it to seperate from the block a fraction of an inch. Everything is out of the way, even things that didnt need to be removed. I have a pretty good view of everything and I really dont see anything holding it to the block, but it wont budge.

when i pulled my engine i got everything off and it wouldnt budge...then i remembered the starter....took that off and it poped off...but its a bitch pulling the engine with the tranny still intact your going to most likely have to take some of the bolts out of the tranny mount so that it drops about 2 inches then u have a little room to work with....but i learned that next time i will pull the tranny with then replace the tranny good luck

The starter is off. I just removed the rear bolt connecting the block to the rear mount, but that didnt help either. Now I can get the bolt back in.
Dont think this was said when i have removed my motor has always been out and the only other time is when i did my clutch , We lowerd the engine a lil. If u cant get it off worse comes to worse lower it a lil so u can fully look over.

Do you or does any know off hand how many bolts connect the tranny directly to the block, not including any of the mounting brackets?
