Need help with tranny removal!!

Default Need help with tranny removal!!

Ok, im in the middle of pulling my friends tranny from his 99 Si. I have all the bolts out and the brackets loose...My problem is i cant get the tranny off the block...Ive got it seperated about this | | much. He had problems with his clutch could it be something inside the tranny causing it to stick? Any help is apprectiated thanks!!

if you think all bolts are out then chek again, if they are out, get something that you can wedge between and start working it loose by hitting the wedge with a sledge,

works for me!!!!

Ive tried everything...The tranny is seperated from the block all the way around...But something is causing it not to...Ive pryed and pryed and it still wont come off

make sure the upper tranny mount isnt hitting the side of the engine bay

oh and you shoud be able to move the tranny with your hands. you also have to take off the a-pipe to get to a bolt on the front of the tranny on the side of the engine.

there was a VERY good thread posted about tranny removal to check the ISB, but the removal is the same. Run a search for FAQ or 'Input Shaft'

did you get the bolts out of the starter?? a lot of people forget about that lower bolt through the starter that goes through into the block

I've tried all of the above could there be anything inside the tranny.. that is keeping it from coming off?... Because he clutch was pretty messed up could anything have broke inside ??

start prying at it with screwdrivers and make sure that EVERY bolt is off...make sure the starter is off too

k well heres what you do dont put nothing back on
start the car
and drive it till the tranny falls off

jk get your friend under there and pry evenly while pushing up

did u completely remove that protective plate that covers the flywheel? its underneath and is bolted to both the tranny and the motor

<FONT COLOR="red">yO did u take the starter off.... i was looking at my homie remove his tranny and his dumb *** forgot that, he was like why isnt it coming off, he tried putting a scew driver in and pry it off, then i went to look and i was like look dawwwg ur starter is still on!!!</FONT>

yeah either your starter bolt or your flywheel cover is not unscrewed

did u remove the half shaft? the one thats bolted to the block...sometimes if the tranny is coming off at an angle it might get stuck...try taking it off

i had the same problem removing the tranny from a 91 vw gti. the clutch blew up on the track, i mean like shattered and pieces were falling out as we were removing it. we got it about an inch and it kinda snagged and wouldnt go any farther. we called my buddy that worked at aamco and he just used two big *** pry bars and pushed the tranny away from the block. it was pretty messed up in there. just when clutches explode they can **** things up, the input shaft had to be replaced on the tranny, but also, this was a hitlers revenge vw.

Just wanted to let everyone know that i got the tranny off and the clutch swapped...I think it was getting hung on the halfshaft...I thought i removed the bolts that hold it to the block but i forgot one...Removed it and the tranny pulled off like a piece of cake...Thanks to all that replied
