tranny problem??
im posting for a friend, he said his tranny went out all the sudden and so he didnt drive it from where it went out. he towed it back to his house and did some test. if the speedometer still goes up then is the tranny still bad?? i heard somewhere that it could just be the axle.
What kinds of nosies does the tranny make? What was he doing when it broke. I have seen outer CV joints break and the axle shaft just spinns in the other joint making the car go nowhere. Can he shift into all of the gears with the clutch engaged?
yea he said he can put it in gear and everything, okay now he said the axle is out on the passenger side and it moves, i really dont know what hes doing but he said the passenger axle is missing that ring at the end of it but the speedometer still moves.
So the axle spins with the wheel on the ground? and not moving?
Sometimes the axle pops out , especially if there is no ring on the inner CV joint axle stub. If he can put it in gear and the speedo still reads it sounds like either a clutch problem or axle problem ie. popped out or is spinning in the outer CV. Just to get this strait, put the front on jack stands and go through all of the gears. If it can go through all of the gears and does not move then either the clutch disk is worn out and doing nothing. or the axle is broke
