Default Snap ring came off the axle while it was in the tranny.... HELP!

Yeah just like the stupid topic says, Im a complete idiot. It all started when I changed the axle out, the seal started leaking. So I got a new seal. Then the axle would pop out. I had read on HT that some people had bent the snap ring on then end of the axle to keep the axle seated properly. Instead of following a wise HTers advice and getting a new snap ring I thought what the heck, why not give it a shot? Well, turns out I bent it to much cause the axle would still slide around, so I pulled the axle out and the snap ring was gone. God hlep me, I am ready to blow my car up. Any advice would be great, accept the obvious. (taking the tranny out and apart and getting it out...)

Can you see it stuck in there at all? It may be stuck in the groove in there and you might be able to get it with some long, thin pliers. If not, you are gonna be takin apart your tranny. I don't know any other way...maybe someone else will.

Go to Autozone and buy the $.99 telescoping magnet and stick it in and start wiggling around.

With some luck, it will catch the ring and you can pull it out.

drain your fluid, see if it fell to the bottom, definatly use a magnet, I don't know if this would work but try to glue/bond/weld a small magnet to some solder wire so you can bend it around, just make shure the magnet will not fall off inside !!

I did drain everything, the drain hole is too small to fit a mangent through... and so is the filler hole...... I have got to find a long skinny/thin magnet...

Go to some of those new gaget stores like brookstone, discovery or even radioshack. I've seen the rare magnets that are like a small battery cell and very strong. Hope this helps.

use my favorite tool, a BFH!!! ( big freakin Hammer ) BEAT THE TRANNY TILL IT FALLS OUT...you might also try flushing out the tranny with some fluid...it might push out the ring...

Blaze, chillout, take things step by step.

If you can gethold of a diargram of the Transmission then you can predict the most likely place it has gone (what with this Gravity thing N'all )

Then use a thin magnet and go fisshing for it
