timing belt issue

timing belt issue
i searched and searched
its my first time doing a timing belt
ran into a sang i stripped the living crap out to the tensioner bolt
and tried over and over to get it off
now my quetion does that bolt come off like the rest counter clock wise?
b/c that thing doesnt wanna come off for its life
i even went out and bought a bolt striped kit thing and that didnt work
any help would be great
its a 96 ls dual over head
and now im at the point were i just slid off the old belt and thinking about sliding the new one on without changing the water pump and b.c this shouldnt take a whole day
any help please

Are you replacing the tensioner also?
Same thing happened to me a while back. I stripped that tensioner bolt pretty bad.
I used this Bolt-Out kit by Craftsman. It worked really great w/ an extended ratchet.

You'll need to buy a new bolt though.

rgaray is right.and on mine when i tried to take the new bolt out it wouldnt , due to a washer not being able to fit theough the hole for the bolt in the timing belt cover.so take the cover off then get the craftsman kit(is very very veryyyyyy helpful) and take the bitch off and replace .
