Default timing

im having trouble getting my distributer to line up with number one cylinder. the valves are closed and at top dead center but the distributer doesn't line up

The distributor can be installed regardless of camshaft orientation. It should only fit in one way.

Sure, it happens sometimes. After building a motor and practically restoring my integra from a shell, I still get stumped over obvious things.
