Ticking/taping sound coming from t-belt side of head randomly.
B18C1 206,xxx KM's
When I start the car up in the morning or after sitting for a while I hear this ticking/taping sound from the timing belt side of the head, it will go away after a bit but will sometimes come back randomly. Lash was checked(cold engine) and was to spec compression is fine in all cyl's there is enough oil in the engine always as it doesn't burn or leak any(checked everyday regardless). The engine looks VERY well taken care of head and VC have zero sludge on them at all am lost on this one don't know when it started.

Check you oil level if you have not, as engines will tick on start up if it's low, but it could also be a lifter starting to stick.

Oils good(was covered in OP) even did it after it's new oil change today. but "lifter(s) sticking" could you explain that one ? I'm not getting anything via Google is there any danger to this ? the car is my DD so to say.

It could be your LMA's (lost motion assembly) I have the same ticking noise. They make a new spring style LMA for the B18's now, I think skunk2 just launched their own brand.
I've driven with the ticking noise for about 10,000km now.

well it didn't do it today even on start up...so it's random since lash is good i'll rule out valve tap(i know Honda's do have some tho). engine is in great shape so im not leaning towards rod knock since it should have started to "KNOCK" by now vs tick tip

Check your power belts! could be your alt belt, power steering belt, or a.c belt, or the a.c or power steering unit, i had the same type sound and it was my ac belt i think, i would remove each one by one besides the alt of course and see if the sound goes away. Also worn out throw out bearings in the trans can cause a ticking sound.

No AC or PS on the car. it's 100% coming from the head I see no loss in power 230-235psi 1-4.
