This is off G2IC.com tips section-

Heel-To-Toe
The idea here is to match the engine RPM's to the cars speed in the gear you select, giving you a smooth downshift, &
keeping the car's balance. Aftermarket pedal covers make heel-to-toe easier. The clutch pedal cover isnt as important
as the brake and accelerator. It can stay rubber, but for the brake and accelerator, you want to have a lot of surface
area to work with (a flap on the accelerator is preferred).
(Picture from Napolex.com)
This brings the brake & accelerator pedal surfaces closer together, making heel-to-toe much easier.
I'll use a common "downshift from 3rd to 2nd while decelerating before a turn" as an example.
1) Apply Brake
2) Push and keep the clutch down.
3) Take the selector out of 3rd gear.
4) Before you stick-it into 2nd gear, you must rev-match. Since you're decelerating, you have to raise the RPM's
slightly because you're going into smaller gear.
*The Heel or the side of the foot, applies the gas. The Toe-side of your right foot applies the brake.* (Heel-To-Toe)
5) Once you've given it the right amount of throttle, move the selector into 2nd gear.
6) Let go of the clutch, then let go of the brake (Be smooooth). By this point you should be through with the turn (past
the apex) and ready to accelerate.

Double Clutching
Double clutching is another technique that is a little easier on the tranny, but it takes too long. Since we have modern
synchronized transmissions, we dont really need to double clutch. Unless, the synchros are messed up. You can tell.. if
your gears "graunch" vigorously on the upshift, then most likely your synchros are messing up. To save $$$ down the
road, Double Clutch it.
Before we get into the steps lets remind ourselves what synchronizers do. Sychro's are friction members that bring the
layshaft & gear to the same speed before engaging. So, if your sychros are messed up, you'll have to make the shaft go
the same speed of the new gear yourself. The bad thing to do, is to let your rpms drop a lot while shifting. On the
upshift, you give it a little gas before engagement. On the downshift... more gas.
1) Press in the clutch.
2) Take the selector out of 4thgear and leave it in neutral.
3) Let go of the clutch, and blip the right amount throttle while its in neutral.
4) Press in the clutch again, and then put it into the next gear.
5) Let go of the clutch...done!
Giving the right amount of throttle in neutral is the hardest part.
The reason for blipping the throttle while in neutral & clutch pedal is out: To bring the shaft up to speed. The shaft is not
connected to the engine while the clutch pedal is in.

Re: teach me how to double clutch (96IntegraLS4DR)
Hey 96IntegraLS4DR, although I've been reading that your description of heel-and-toe is the correct method, I've also heard that the heel-and-toe is simply double clutching but adding in the brakes.
Is it possible to heel-and-toe like this?
1) press brakes
2) depress clutch
3) from 3rd put selector into neutral
4) release clutch
5) blip
6) depress clutch
7) selector to 2nd
8) lift clutch
whew, sounds like a lot more steps though...

Re: teach me how to double clutch (mattymatt)
It only seems like that b/c you're trying to do those 8 steps in the span of 3 seconds or less.
Also, did anyone catch Vin Diesel mention something about Paul Walker not double-clutching when shifting during the race? Who in the hell double-clutches while upshifting? -Dumb...pure dumb.

Re: teach me how to double clutch (IN VTEC)
Hey IN VTEC,
The 8 steps I wrote down requires you to depress and release the clutch twice, not just once. I just want to find out which is the best way, and just stick with it.

Re: teach me how to double clutch (mattymatt)
Double clutching on upshift is merely a way of prolonging the life of your tranny and it would merely slow you down in a race. By the way Vin Diesel mentioned Granny shifting not Double clutching like you should Double clutchinh is granny shifting and it is just another example of a lack of research on the scriptwriter's part.
