Default Sway Bar Compare...

I am planning on getting a sway bar (a better one) for my 01 gsr. Possible suspects include the type R w/ bsq kit; comptech, or eibach (front and rear) kit. I am currently riding on KYB AGX's w/ the eibach pro kit.

Which kit is the best, and why?
Which is the best for performance?
What are there diameters?

I was thinking of the eibach sway bar kit (front and rear) to complement my springs.

Also, do you need reenforcement bracks with any of the 22mm aftermarket bars?

Thanks in advance...

I don't think there is a better bar for the money then the ITR. I have the JDM (23mm) on my GSR and love it to death. I am also on KYB's and GC (eibach springs) and that thing is awsome. I would recomend 22mm though cheaper and easier to obtain. plus though i have nothing to compare it to, i sence a tad bit of oversteer. but it might just be me.

Id go either ITR or comptech. Comptech is kinda pricey, but hey if money is no concern get it, but if youd rather save a couple hundred go ITR w/ BSQ. Youll love it.

even if i had the money, i can't see paying that much just to get a lower tie bar. I would rather get a bennen bar and it looks better.

The Type-R rear swaybar is 22mm and it cost $106 shipped for everything (ie. swaybar, misc. parts and mounting kit). The 22mm rear swaybar combined with a 24mm front swaybar gives a very neutral (ie. no understeer/no oversteer) handling balance.

The Comptech rear swaybar/tie bar combo is also 22mm cost $365-$380 plus shipping. The Comptech swaybar is adjustable which allows you to adjust the torsional stiffness by +5% or -5%. The 22mm rear swaybar combined with a 24mm front swaybar gives a very neutral (ie. no understeer/no oversteer) handling balance.

The Eibach swaybar kit contains a 27mm front swaybar and a 21mm rear swaybar and the kit cost $299 plus shipping. I have no personal experience with this setup and I haven't really read any feedback either. But I would speculate that the Eibach swaybar kit would give a handling balance of understeer.

FYI, here is a diagram which illustrates understeer and oversteer.

OVERSTEER

The GS-R and the Type-R share the same 24mm front swaybar. Also, all '00 and '01 Integras have a 24mm front swaybar.

The cat, B-pipe and shift linkage have to be disconnected to removal and install a front swaybar.

Do a search please as this topic has been covered many, many times before.

Here is my take on it from post (https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=362076) asking about comparing the ITR 22mm bar to the Comptech bar/brace combo.

The Comptech Sway/Tie bar Combo costs approximately $389 (price from tornactive.com)
The alternatives?
*One example : (prices also from tornactive.com)
Beaks kit $188-comes with ITR sway bar and all mounting accessories
Beaks upgrade kit $18 (may be required for some lower tie bars including Benen)
Benen lower tie bar $127
Total $333

What's included in the Comptech Sway/Tie bar combo that isn't included in the alternative mentioned above? Adjustable swaybar endlinks and a combo (kit) that comes complete with all the parts from one source.

*Note that this is just one example of an alternative to the Comptech sway/tie bar combo. Other alternatives such as buying parts direct, a BSQ kit, purchasing the ITR sway bar from AHmotor or Carland Acura may cost a lot less $$$ (under $300 easy).

Is it worth it? You'll have to decide that. I like the Comptech Sway/Tie bar combo, but for me, I couldn't justify the cost. I went with the Beaks kit.

You don't need a larger front bar. Also, I believe the Eibach rear sway bar is 19mm, compared to 22mm for the ITR& Comptech bars.

According to http://www.optauto.com/webstore/prod...t=244&last=244 the Eibach rear is 21mm. You may be thinking of the ST rear, it is 19mm.

Bret, you are right about the Eibach, it is 21mm.

From Eibach's website:
ANTI-ROLL-KIT 27mm Front 21mm Rear Bar is Adjustable. 4020.320

Brett I just bought a GSR sway bar and end links etc. Now I once remember you discussing that Type R bushing are Harder rubber than the GSR ones.. Is this true? should i upgrade before installing the bar??

Also can a benen rear tie bar be used with your kit? and type R bar

How hard is it to install the front bar.. sounds like a pain.. owell. gotta learn somehow

The only difference between the Type-R and the non-Type-R endlink is the Type-R endlink has a stiffer rubber bushing. BTW, I have used both endlinks on my car and I noticed no difference between the two.

Yes. The Benen rear tie bar will work with the Type-R rear swaybar. Here is a picture which shows the Type-R rear swaybar and the Benen rear tie bar combo.

ITR rear sway is a ridiculously good deal, and I recommend it to everyone, before anything.
