Sputtering and really low idle after hard pull...
93 civic HB with 94 GSR block/tranny/ECU. Intake, MSD, manifold -> cat is GSR stock, cat back is civic stock. Drove the car as it is now before sending it to the shop to be sleaved, etc; with no problems. Car sat undriven for 6 months while waiting for motor/trans.
Drove the car normally off my street and onto a main road. Did a hard pull in 2nd gear to make sure all the wiring was good and VTEC and butterflies opened. Pulled hard with great acceleration. But after that pull, the car started sputtering or possibly missing below 3000rpm, and idle was almost to the point of dying. Drove maybe 1/2 mile back to my house and by the time I got there, it started running fine again. Been driving my car now for another day and a half and all is well, but I haven't put the pedal down either.
Any ideas as to what could've caused that? I'm going to run to the store and get new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and fuel filter (although they are all under 30k miles, with the exception of the plugs at now 600 miles.) Also, fresh 91 octane gas in the car as of 200miles in. Fuel system cleared added at the same time.
Any advice/insight would be great. Update tomorrow after I replace all that stuff.

no worries dude. it was nothing. NO need to replace all that stuff!! not necessary at all. its only because the car needed to be cleared out after sitting all that time. everything should be tip top shape now. run some sea foam through it here shortly and she'll be clear as day.
Grifter,
I would have to agree that you should seafoam it and all should be well. Another thought is if your gas was old and had been sitting for 6months. That could also be the issue. I would fill the car with supreme, add a little octane booster/fuel cleaner to the tank, then sea foam the car and drive it that whole tank and see if she doesnt run like a champ after. GL

Thanks for the replies. I didn't end up replacing anything just yet. But I did readjust the valves, cyl 2-4 intake were out of spec, but only by .001 in. I have made a few more pulls, and the motor isn't sputtering.
However, the second time I made a good pull, my friend was in the car, and there was a tick sound from the motor area. He said it sounded just like lifter tap. After another lap around the block, it went away. Later that week I made a good pull in 2nd and 3rd. Everything seemed to have cleared up, but while waiting at a stop light, the car randomly (and not immediately), stalled. Fired right back up, next light, same thing, but it didn't want to fire right back up. After sitting for an hour, it was fine again. Starting to think I may have a vaccuum leak somewhere or my FPR is not working properly. Any thoughts on that? Gonna check what vaccuum lines I have and test the FPR if possible.

Yes the car had sat 12+ hours before I did the clearances. I haven't run a compression check on it yet as I didn't think I would have to, being the motor has >1k miles on it. It was just rebuilt a few months ago. Just got to finish putting it in once the nicer weather came.
