Default Speedometer problem!

After several years of working fine, this morning out of the blue my speedometer is acting weird. The speed needle is very slow, takes forever to register my actual speed, then I slow down to a stop and the needle stays at around 20mph for a bit (while stopped) and then it goes to 0 finally.

My odometer as far as mileage works still, and my temp/fuel gauge still work too. So is my speedo toast or should I check the thing on the tranny that goes into the speedo (forgot the name of it all of a sudden)?

car: 1997 Integra RS 5-speed.

Could be your speed sensor which is on your transmission or it could be the guage itself.

Try to locate and replace the speed sensor. if that doesnt work then its 100% certain its the guage.

Speed Sensors are not cheap. I got a quote on one for my DA and it was close to $275... Do you have an actual spedo cable or is it electronic?

maybe there is dirt or something obstructing the needle. try to clean it out and see if that helps at all. after that, maybe i would try the vss, but i sure as **** wouldn't pay $275 for one.
