simple intake question
ok ive had my short ram intake on for about 6 months, it came with a metal bracket, as well as my brothers and some friends, and for some reason we could never figure out where it goes. its an L shaped bracket with holes in it. i always assumed it was to hold it up, btu none of us ever used it. Anyways, the intake burned a hole in my a/c line and that sux *** but thats a different story. so when i get it fixed, to prevent it from happending again, where does that bracket go? pictures would be nice if you have them. BTW its a 95 gs-r. thanks

i didn't really know what it was for either but it looked like it is supposed to help support the big filter at the end of the intake. so i bent the bracket a little and bolted it so it would help support the filter.
not sure where the bracket goes.. but for those with the aem cai on GSR's let me give u a word of warning.... Be carefull where the piping contacts the AC lines, cuz it will rub thru the foam and eventually create a leak in the ac pipe which means money! freon's not all that cheap and neither is stupid factory only ac lines. My roomates gsr is showing similar wear n tear on the ac lines so in order to protect it we cut some radiator hosing n ziptied it around the ac lines... the thick *** rubber on it should help some.. but we will periodically inspect the thing so no biggie.
yeah, that happened to a friend of mine that bought a no-name brand cai that had no mounting bracket. rubbed right through his AC line and costed him 700 to replace it.

Same happened to me, but it wasn't a no-name intake, it was an iceman, that i was running shorty for a few years...anyway, a quick trip to the junkyard and $50 later for the AC lines i needed and about 3hrs of work and i replaced it. Then i just got some zipties and made sure it can't rub anymore so it won't happen again!
