I'm swapping to an itr manifold in my si, and i wanted to know, who still runs the intake manifold bracket? Just about everyone i know leaves it off, it's such a bitch in the removal/assembly process........

What would be the downsides of having the bracket off ?

i don't know anyone that leaves that bracket on there even w/ stock manifold. it's a pain in the *** when you're trying to pull a head off and don't know whats holding it in there, then you notice that bracket!

I sure as hell didnt pay Honda the 50 bucks that they wanted for a new y8 intake mani brace. I dont run one, and it doesnt bother me one little bit.

I threw mine away, no bracket for about half year now, all is good.

ok my actual reason for keeping it was this:

as i've recently found out, the SI/EM1 bracket is massive compared with the itr/gsr brackets. Maybe because the engine mounts on the teg's are bigger or?

< I'm wondering if this has a similair effect on the engine, that an engine mount does, and that removing it will induce wheel hop >

I don't think that would have any impact on the motor mounts. The intake manifold bracket bolts onto the block and the PCV canister. The only benefit I could see from it is more supports for the intake manifold.

heh....now the only thing stopping me, is when i pick up the manifold and hold it at the mount.......alot of weight on there.....

(yea i know i'm just bitching)

I just installed a Skunk 2 inake manifold on my car (00 Si) and you don't even reuse the old bracket. Saves the weight!
