Icon6 shifting problem!

Here's my problem and I would just like to see what you guys think before I go out and spend way too much money to fix what could be a simple problem. I can't shift into any gear, while the car is running, it just grinds.... When the car is not running I can shift through gears just fine. I'm not sure if maybe it is the clutch/throw out bearing, ect, or if I could be having another problem. Any help would be amazing.
Thanks

Have you checked the clutch master cylinder for fluid?

Could be the clutch master cylinder gone bad, or it could be the slave cylinder, or it could be a problem with the release fork or throwout bearing. It's something that is causing the clutch to not disengage when you push the pedal.

The clutch master cylinder reservoir is the small hydraulic fluid reservoir near the driverside firewall. Open the cap and see if any fluid is in there. If not you have some sort of leak somewhere, because the fluid does not disappear into thin air. Check that and post what you do or do not find. Good luck!

almost the same problem i had. most of the times, it will not go into gear and will grind when trying to get into gear. pulled tranny out and found that one of the springs to the clutch had popped out. the spring was grinding away the flywheel approx 1/2" deep. also before it stopped going into gear, there was a slight buzz or rattle that now i know it was the spring.

replaced clutch, flywheel (40 bucks), pressure plate and bearings and all is good now. no grinds, but still pops out of 3rd and 5th like before!

it could be a bad clutch but if you have some high miles on it there is the fork and a ball inside the bell housing it rides on if it is worn or if the fork is bent at all it wont go into gear when running but you wont know til you pull the tranny

i figured a stock clutch kit for 159+ shipping is worth it. if that fixes it, cool. if not, time to save up for a new tranny. but yeah, it can be anything. i have 248K when i changed my clutch out. 2nd one that i have did already.

It sounds to me like it's pretty likely to be a clutch problem, but I did have a similair problem and after I looked into it realized it was the synchronizers in the trans. I could shift into gears sometimes, but it would pop out of gear... or sometimes it would just grind and not go into gear all together. It's more of an intermittent problem, the synchros I mean, sounds to me like a clutch overhaul would do the trick if it absolutely NEVER goes into gear. A new throwout bearing should come with the new clutch KIT!
