Default Shaking question

Ok, i have a question for you guys. Here lately when i accelerate, my front end shakes and than goes away after a certain RPM....usually anything under 4k the front end shakes (i can feel it in my feet and so can my passenger)...But after i accelerate or get up to a certain speed it doesn't do it. Or if i creep into the gas it doesn't do it. The steering wheel doesn't shake at all, its just in my feet. I was thinking along the lines of ball joints.....

Any Ideas...

Is it your motor that's shaking?

Does it shake at idle?

Mine was doing this (shaking at idle), I did a compression test and found out I had uneven compression, which caused the engine to shake at low RPMs. It was fine above 1500 or so, but below that it would shake a bit.

You might want to do a compression test just to be sure.

If it shakes only under hard acceleration, I'm thinking it's one of your CV shafts. You can usually tell which side it's coming from if you pay close attention to which side is shaking worse. Other major possibility is maybe a wheel is out of balance but that usually changes with speed but not based on how hard you're accelerating. Other two guys could be right too, but I'd start with the CVs, if the boots are torn and have slung grease everywhere I'd be almost certain that was it.

You have a bad inboard CV joint. I had the same problem and I tried everything including the motor mounts, alignment, rotors, etc, but the problem ceased when I replaced the bad axle.

Another question: How big of a difference is the Non-ABS axles to teh ABS axles? I have an extra set of Non's at the house, and thought about swapping them out. Just to test it....If its a big difference, i will just go and buy some..

The only diff is the little ring on the end. This is what the ABS computer reads to see how fast each wheel is moving. They should come off your old axles and pop onto the new axles. I have never tried to run a car without the rings but I wouldn't.... It might freak the ABS ECU out because it will see the back wheels moving and not the front.
