Default Engine question

My 89 accord keeps running when I put it in park and shut off the engine, is this because the idle is too fast?

Thanks for your help!

Default Re: Engine question (CRAPBUCKET)

Are you boostin on it??? Do you have a turbo timer??? j/k haha.. It does turn off tho right, it just takes a second to rev down correct. If then it make just be idling high... I would compression test your motor... With low compression motors it is easier but the compression will slow the motor down fairly quickly after you turn it off therefore if you are loosing compression somewhere it would rotate longer.... This is just a guess I don't really know for sure because I've never really dealt with a problem like this... If this all sounds like your car then maybe try a leakdown or compression test.... Good luck
