Default Sensor Broken

Okay so as i was looking around the motor a few days ago i noticed that one of my sensors what cracked so i just touched it and it broken and then i started my car and the check engine light comes on so then i turn off the car and push the sensor together and then the check engine light turns off.. and now it comes back on once in awhile.. and i went to acura to find out what kind of sensor that was and they wanted me to pay them just to look at it so they can tell me what sensor it is.. well the sensor is located under the distrubtor and it's connected to the head.. there is a big one and a small one.. i need to know what the big one is..

Post a pic if you can, but it sounds like it might be the temp sensor. You notice the temp gauge acting strange?

alright thanks i'll look into that coolant temp.. but my car used to idle high and weird like it would go up and down constantly but then i adjusted my timing and it's back down to 700-800 rpm now..
