Default RHD Conversion! New Project!

Hey guys and gals,
just recently decided im going to RHD my 94 RS. I'm looking to buy a RHD front clip that is decently close to me now.

Wanted to see what everyone thought and on how technical it is.
I figure, with the entire clip complete and my car in the garage. If i can get an appointment made for some reputable welds put on the fire wall, im thinking i can do the entire conversion in about 3 days.

Wanted to also know if it is even practical? (knowing any car modification's isn't practical)
Told my father i am gonna do the RHD conversion instead of boosting the motor and getting it sleeved etc etc. He replies, "Your are an idiot, truly." Kinda made me have second thoughts, i can pick up a JDM front clip without RHD set up for about 500 bucks. I already have the OEM optional kit for the car, and im just waiting on paint for the the body work to be done. So basically what im getting at is, RS wannaBe ITR.

From what i read, and seen all the RHD conversion requires work wise is to swap the racket pinion, dashboards, some wiring, move some of the stuff in the engine bay to opposite sides, swap the fire walls, and if i can find some RHD door panels, then go from there.

Dunno thought really, tell me what your opinions are on this. I really think it would be genuine/unique and pretty fun to drive and show off.

Love,
Mahlon F.

Not genuine, not unique. I remember seeing 5+ threads on this subject already with people undertaking the process and one of which showed step by step w/pics of a guy doing through the conversion process.

RHD was neat when the fad came out but with all the RHD cars now over here... it's more meh than WOW anymore.

--- Yeah, i seen that thread too. White Dc2 i think. I haven't ever seen RHD honda lol in real life i mean. My friend is going to be doing it to his EK9 so just got me really tempted to do it. Was it really ever a fad? If it was, i guess im missed the band wagon on that one haha. I figured, its kinda on the cheaper side for a "major" mod and something i haven't experienced.

Thanks for your input rik, you must be the only one that cares

I don't understand the point, really? You want to make an RS appear to be a Type R ? An imported type R none the less?

Right hand drive is awesome... When you drive it in a country where everyone is right hand drive.

Driving RHD here is annoying and I would highly advise putting the money in your engine instead..

--- B4 i even wanted to do this, my car was an RS. I didn't buy it for the reason that it will be a ITR replica etc. Just bought it because it's what i had available to me. I wanted the side moldings shaved since day 1, and i got the optional lip kit for dirt cheap. It just happened to be that i want a jdm front clip. So it bassicly is going to be a ITR rep. Wasn't my goal @ all, but it's what its ending up to be.

--- I haven't looked much, but the ones i seen are from like 500-600. Probably can get cheaper though.

Boosting the motor will be more fun than the p.i.t.a. that is RHD conversion.

--- Already have boosted car, so isn't gonna be anything new. And i figured 500 bucks roughly v the 3k+ for a turbo set up.

--- Lol, they are all entitled to their opinions. That's why i kinda made this. The dc2 is gonna be turboeD no matter what. I just figured to do the cheaper thing first because its a dramatic difference in the way it drives and looks. I can get dc2's for super cheap. 500-1500 for gsrs LS and everything so gonna flip a couple and then get the car done. All about the Benjamin's though.

It's your car so do what you want with it...replica or not . Seems like a worthwhile project.

good luck with the conversion.

--- Ya, as long as the car is sound running. If you OEM, your OKAY in my book. JDM front clip is kinda the majority of the turbo set up money. Ehhh not really lol, like 1200 alone for the turbo 500 for IC, then get piping bent, tuned, new ems, injecotrs, manifold, bov, wg, lol....SO MUCH TO GET! so little money and time!

So why not do more of a budget build/daily driver turbo set up. No need to go all out since its a daily. Just a mild set up and that will be alot cheaper.

--- Because im a picky basturd and don't wanna run anything cheap. If i go and buy something. ima go all out and do it right. I dont think its logical to spend money on an item that you will have to replace if you wanna upgrade etc etc.

--- Lol. yeah. i had gt40, but don't got it anymore. I think ima lower my expectations for this. and go for a 400-425whp DD. I wanna run E85 since we have it on pump, im looking around for a manifold i like. I am very **** on that. I think im going to run gt30r t4. I'm still under construction though. I NEED A CLIP!!! lol.

--- was gonna get it from a buddy for cheap. it was already mine. but he kept it, so now i gotta get a new one :D

my buddies are trying to talk me into K swap. since i can get litterally any car for dirt cheap. (just bought a 2001 A4 for 1000 bucks, and put 30 bucks getting it fixed. Rdy to be flipped now, car is mint)

ima look into getting a tsx k24 or somthing like that. if i can get it, i need to look up current pricing for getting everything fabbed.
