Quick question, b18b or b18c non-vtec
Looking for my next race car project, but rules state VTEC must be disabled, so what would be the faster of the two? A non VTEC integra or a GSR with VTEC disabled? I searched, didn't see any power numbers for the b18c with VTEC disabled (for obvious reasons, lol)

No I'm not. I'll reword it. Is a GSR Integra with the VTEC solenoid unplugged still faster than a GS/RS/LS b18b Integra. This is for a racing series that doesn't allow cars with VTEC or any variable valve timing, unless it's disabled.

I doubt anyone here knows because just unplugging the VTEC solenoid on a stock motor/stock ECU and expecting good results is retarded. The engine isn't built to run that way in stock form and the results will show it.
VTEC heads do *typically* have bigger valves and flow better than non-VTEC heads, so if you're looking to do an actual "vtec killer" build then you should start your research there, there is plenty of documentation on those builds if you look for it.

Thanks for the reply. Not looking to build anything, was just wondering if searching for a GSR would be worthwhile.
I ran a Sentra SpecV this year with the vvt solenoid unplugged and it didn't make a difference in lap times, wasn't sure how the B18C would work...

Long story short, VTEC engagement on a GSR is at 4400 RPMs from the factory and the secondary butterflies in the intake manifold open at 5750 RPMs. Technically you could buy a GSR, leave the engine/ecu/intake manifold stock, unplug the VTEC solenoid (disable VTEC or lock it or whatever tf you have to do to stay in VTEC all the time), leave everything else alone and it would probably run shitty from idle to 4400 and then be normal above 4400 to red line. In a race you shouldn't be below 4400 RPMs anyways, so if you know how to drive, a stock GSR locked in VTEC should be faster than a Stock LS. It would probably idle with some cam lope and maybe be a pain in the *** to start, not positive on this, but probably. Hell, maybe it would be fine and only suffer minor loss in low end, idk, but if you could tune the mapping, it would definitely be a plus and run a lot better.

A GSR in VTEC, above 4400rpms (where it's supposed to be) will be faster than a stock b18b
