Procedure to charge ac???
Looking to get the old teg ac working again. Has anybody done it without using a charging machine? I got a few buddies that work for dealers that can do it, but I rather just do it on the weekend at the house. I heard you can buy freon in cans these days. Any input?

I had a thread these past days on A/C recharging... anyway you can go to Kragen or any autoparts store and buy a R134a recharge kit for around $30.. it comes w/ a guage, the blue A/C fill tube w/ METAL fittings, the METAL T-tap (to pierce the cam and turn on and off the flow of refrigerant from the can) and like 1 can (12 oz) of refrigerant.. I was going to buy that but my friend told me to go to Kmart cuz they had a sale and its 10% off this weekend..
I bought a R134a retrofit kit (even tho my a/c is already R134a).. it came w/ 3 cans (15 Oz), the blue A/C tube, T tap and the R12 to R134a couplings which I wont need for my car... the cans are like $10 each at Kragen which is why I bought this kit.. I don't really like how the fittings are plastic.. but for $29 for 3 cans.. it will do.. I borrowed my friends guage and hoses w/ metal fittings.. so that should be coo..
the procedure is to open up the cap on the low line/side of your a/c (near radiator/front of car) then screw in the T tap w/ the screw unscrewed.. then after your T tap is on the can.. screw down (clockwise) the T tap so it pierces the can and can let out refrigerant.. now connect the hose... if you have a guage.. w/ the motor running and a/c at max connect and see the reading on the guage.. on the guage my friend lemme borrow theres a blue zone if its OK, add some if u need to.. and check the guage.. its about as hard as adding air in your tires.. Lolz I just learned this a few days ago.. as I had a thread about it and was lost before..
