Default R12 Evacuation

I have an R12 AC System . I am doing a JDM AC install. I know the best way is to get an AC Tech to come out and do it. I am wondering if anyone knows a way to DIY or an inexpensive kit to empty and hold the R12 and the reuse it?

So you are swapping out your working A/C for another A/C just because it's from another country?

Just making sure I wasn't reading that wrong...

I would be surprised if you can buy anything that that is designed to store r12 unless you have the EPA license for it.

I didn't notice he was wanting to save his R12. Why? Just by the refill cans.

R12 is outlawed you will have to use a alternative refrigerant. It is very unlikely you will get your hands on some and if you do it is illegal for you to handle it. If you took it to a AC Tech, I highly doubt he would keep the R12 system, He would most likely convert it to a R134a, since R12 is a banned refrigerant showed to damage the ozone layer. R134a is still some bad stuff, just not as bad as R12 supposedily

I spoke to techs today and the ban is on production and on selling by unlicensed facilities. R12 is still aropund. Just search this site for the guys who have looked for and found R12 for thir system. It is still out there, just alot more expensive. There is no ban on using it in your car if you already have it or servicing it. Most people copnvert because of how expensive it is.

I spoke ot Auto Zone and Checker and found out the above info on R12 also found out that they do not stock or carry anything like you mentioned so it looks like I am going to have to pay someone.

Search the site. You will find many posts about a JDM climate control. It is an electronic auto model and some people just like the custom look and feel of it.
