Default Problems In Never Land

alright maybe some of yall can help me out, my b18a1 sounds like it is running on 3-1/2 cylinders, and its smoking a thick black smoke(even at idle it smokes) I replaced the: plugs, and plugwires, but no luck yet... i just swaped the motor in, it ran fine in my other car, but as soon as I get it in it started running funny.... help me!!!

We're going to need more details than that. Is it throwing any codes? Did you make sure all of the engine grounds are making good contact and are secure? Did you test the injectors? Do you know which cylinder is acting up even?

the injectors are fine, the grounds are fine, the computer isnt throwing any codes, i just found out it has a water leak coming from the back of the motor(havent located it yet) and how am i supposed to tell which cylinder is missfiring???

have you tried the dist cap and rotor, just a thought....id say check the cap and rotor....the firing order, other than that id check some wiring.

EDIT::.... also have you messed with the timing at all??? the leak could also be from the hose running from the back of the motor to the heater core....sumtime the copper part of the core bends and it leaks....i had this problem and all i did was take the hose off and reshape the copper part

Have you checked the timing? If the timing got messed up in the swap it could cause erratic behavior. However, if it's smoking, it sounds more serious than plugs, wire, cap, timing, etc.

I was thinking head gasket, but i dunno how that could be, because it was fine when it was in my 2 door??

have you taken the head of the engine or messed around any with the timing belt?

nope sure havent, but i also forgot to mention one MAJOR thing is the motor was dropped squarley onto the ground from 1- 1.5 feet up in the air...

You probably bent your pan into your oil pickup/screen, have a looksy. Also, to see which cylinder could be the problem, remove one spark plug at a time and replace to see if it doesn't change the idle. Dropping your engine would be a BIG clue to skip, lol.

remove a wire at a time to see if theres change in idle and check your timing also be careful when your bending over working on the engine if your at neverland, M.J might be hanging around
