Today on the way to work, i was racing my car down the highway. Was doing fast... then i get to work 10 miles away from dubuque, and i get going down the last stretch of road and just was smoking down that road. Even got a 3rd gear scratch thats where it got real bad!!! i start to slow and i have smoke rolling from under my car, and i just coast to my parking space and pop the hood to see the damage. I look under my car, and i have a puddle and a nice trail going to that puddle. Ive had trouble wiht my drivers side seal on my tranny, so i look to see, and there is my seal blown out of its spot, and that metal ring is also blown out. I am having it towed tomarrow and thought id see your reactings. I would like to know how the hell that happened? Too much pressure or what?

I have had no luck in getting help with my tranny problem in other forums, being this is a b series thought you'd be able to help. [IMG][/IMG] that ring on the end, anyone know if that has to be put completely against the seal, does it hold it in or something? i tried before and i couldnt get that ring to completely seat. i need some help. ive never blown the seal out, but it has been leaking for awhile!!! need help thanks

read after the pic of the half shaft, I want to know what that ring does, does it hold the seal in, or is it just like a dust boot. i want to know if that is suppose to hold the seal in. because i replaced this seal before, and now it came out. need help thanks

 

well no wonder it fucked up.. 3rd gear scratch? if your pushing it that hard things are bound to fail...

 

yea, anyways, anyone know what the metal ring on the end of the intermediate shaft does? i just want to know because mine looks slightly bent and i would like to know if that hold that seal in or what. thanks
