Post Problem with MAP sensor positioning

Hello everyone,

I swapped a b18c into my 1992 integra gsr . I also bought a new throttle body, but noticed that the MAP sensor for the original b17 is located on the firewall, but the later integras had it on the throttle body directly.

So my problem is that theres a spot to install a MAP sensor on the throttle body that i bought (because the map sensor on the b18c motor is not located on the firewall but the TB itself), but im using the old MAP sensor ( which has a vacuum hose connected to it)

what do I do? do I extend the wires from the one on the firewall ? and what do I do with the hose connected to the MAP sensor on the firewall?

if I lost you, please tell me and ill clarify

thanks everyone

moe

I ran into this problem when i swapped a b18c1 in my crx as well. What year is your gsr?

What i did was just extend the wires for the map sensor. And i followed a vacuum hose diagram for the rest.

Thanks for the reply

I have a 92 Acura integra GSR.
- swapped in a b18C1 motor and replaced the intake manifold. I bought a throttle body as an upgrade but i realized that the throttle body has the MAP sensor right on it, while my integra had in on the firewall.

- so i kept my old thottle body ( from the b17 ) on but it idles pretty bad. I want to put my throttle body on but I dont know how to work around it.

what did you do to solve this?

Moe

Do you have a map sensor to go on top of your new throttle body? And just lengthen your old map sensor clip to reach the map sensor on the tb.

Either extend the map wires to reach the new one on the throttle body and cap off the old vacuum hoses, or just run your old one the way it was and leave the throttle body map sensor on but unplugged.

Thanks so much.

Will it do anything if I cap out the vacuum line? I thought maybe it would mess with the pressures.

Do you think the it will be a direct click on to the new MAP sensor? or would i have to do some wiring

( some background info is that I'm using the old b17 wiring harness with my current b18c1 set up. I'll be attaching the clip thats compatible with the b17 MAP sensor to the new MAP sensor. Ive tried to search up if I would have to buy a different clip and do some wiring to make it work, but no luck. I may have to go a buy one and test it)

Thanks again

Yes kept the old wiring harness. And no codes. It's a little messy but you could see how it is

You'll be fine blocking them off, as long as they aren't being used by anything anymore. The sensors are generally all the same for b,d, & h series map's so you should be alight using that plug. Just extend it so it reaches, and won't get pulled if the motor moves around from driving. I suggest soldering the wires when you extend them, but if you dont have experience with that use butt connectors and crimp them good.

If you look up info on the multi point conversion for ef's they some times show how to extend the map plug from the firewall to the new one on the throttle body. But its pretty straight forward.
