problem with the a/c
hi..i have a qestion my a/c doesnt cool to well the air is kind of warm...i think that is the expansion valve but i dont know were is...somebody sed me that is inside the dash panel...have any idea???
The expansion valve is located next to the evaporator core under your glove box. If the expansion valve isn't working it usually sticks open or closed, I would say not a common problem unless its really old. If its stuck closed, then it freezes up and you can visually see this. If its open, the system never gets that cold but still half way works. If you have A/C gauges then check to make sure the system is correctly filled. If you don't have gauges I would take it to some shop that does. The home charge kits are not designed if your system has completely leaked out. About how much did you charge the system, one can = 1lb? Sorry for the long post I have become quite an A/C nerd.
^^^ hey since you know so much about a/c, can you tell me why my compressor makes this humming noise when i accelerate? i mean its works fine. nice and cold. just makes that humming noise.
Element,
Could you take a video/sound clip so I could get a better idea. If its coming from the compressor it could be anything from the belt or the compressor starting to go bad.
