Default problem with b16 in da

hey guys i just need a little conformation here...one of my buddys traded his old eg hatch for a DA with a 2nd gen b16a2 in it...Still got the stock tranny i think ...but thats whatever...so thing is here we get it home after testing it out and doing the trade and we notice that for some reason the pick up is really weak...weaker that a b16 should be...and then vtec cracks and picks up ok but doesent really open up till the secondary's come on...the swap looks very clean and well done but i checked and its a obd0 b16 ecu...Would that cause the motor to lag like it does? Maybe different maps? or is there something else i need to look at for him?

Btw i have a obd1 p28 with b16 skunk2 settings and can get obd0-obd1 jumpers at a good price...would it run ok with that or does it need the original obd2 ecu?
Any Help is greatly appreciated...thanks

It should work if everything is wired propely, But then again it's a B16 in an integra! the integra is a bit heavier than a civic, B16 has no torque to haul that thing around. IMHO

no that doesnt really matter...

if the tranny is a stock da tranny then thats the problem...the b16a or the b18c both have close ratio gears to compensate for the torque...kind of like the debate between the b18b and the b16a

There are no secondaries in the B16.. It's most likely your transmission. The ECU also wouldn't effect it really, especially if it's a 1990 or 1991 Integra which is non-OBD anyway.

doood how much did you want to put that quote in your signature about the secondaries? I know I did, but I can't replace my Johnny Drama quote just yet.

EDIT: nevermind.

That quote. I'll leave it you to figure out what is funny about it.

most likly it is the tranny if you are saying it has the stock b18b tranny. The b16 is going to be VERY VERY slow with a ls tranny, get a b16 tranny and you should be fine

b16's are very peaky engines that like to rev. ls tranny's have really long gears that were designed for an engine that didnt need to rev as high and had a broader powerband compared to a b16's and you'll be falling out of vtec when you shift.
