I had an alternator off of my 94 GSR. It worked perfectly when I took it off my car. I let it sit for 2 years. I then sold it on HT to a member. He received the alternator and claims it doesn't spin. He says he can barely even move it by hand. Is it possible for this alternator to go from fully functional to useless just sitting around for 2 years?

 

Sure its possible, probable in fact. It seized internally. Happens to many accessories that sit for long durations without being spun from time to time.

Happened to an AC compressor to me. Perfectly working, removed and set on a garage shelf, seized completely when checked 6 months later.

 

hmmm if you left outside lol then probably yeah. but if you kept it inside it should still work cause i put on a starter that uhh i lost count how many year it was sitting around (i know it's not the same item but still) for my integra and my car is running like a champ but i could be wrong too.
