Default Power steering leak. Bad pump?

A have a 91 GS and I take good care of it. This morning the reservoir seems almost empty. I filled it up to the max mark with Acura Power steering fluid. When I got to work, the fluid went down to min. Is it that time to change out a power steering pump? Or a simple "O" ring replacement? I see some seepage around the pump too. The engine bay is pretty much stock.

You can try tightening all of the hose clamps. There are a lot and they are not very fun to get to....

The first thing I did was clean up and degrease the area so I could see exactly where the leak is coming from, it sounds like a pretty big leak. You're right the o-ring is a common area and a cheap fix, you could start there. Check to see that there's no leak out of the steering rack itself and the pressure lines.

I had a bad problem with mine leaking where the steel hoses in the engine bay were leaking. They go from the cooler and resivior back to the steering rack. One of them was simply rusted near the rack. I had also made some new lines out of brake line, that go to the transmission. They go there to assist steering depending on speed. Things only lasted about a year before the oem lines finished blowing out. I got so frustrated, I decided to remove the whole system and loop the lines. Used the original fittings and made my own new lines out of steel brake line.

Well, I cleaned the engine bay with "gunk" cleaner especially around the pump. Then I started the engine up and kept my eye on the pump and around the hoses. Sure nuff, I saw seepage coming from the pump itself.

Should I replace the pump or should I replace all the O-rings inside of it? What is cost effective? I've seen U-tube vids on how to rebuild them but I'm not sure if i should invest in the time to do that. Its the original OEM one and I'm still debating if I should buy a reman.

What do you think?

O-rings are cheap and easy, might as well give it a shot before buying a replacement pump.

I think I'll do that. So all together there are six o-rings in the pump right?

buy a gates kit from rockauto and rebuild the pump. The kit isn't complete so there are some parts from acura/honda that you will need to get as well.

I've compared it to the Dealer diagram. Rockauto has the complete kit for the pump. 7 in total.

Is it necessary to drain the PS fluids before removing the pump? I hope I wouldn't have to. Can I just crimp one of the hoses? And what about the high pressure hose? You can't crimp that one.
