Default potential problems with the integra?

just got my new used integra 94 rs. 105k. the damn owner seemed like he didnt take care of it. the battery is almost shot. the battery light and the oil light is on. i changed the oil( high mileage one 10-30, 5 quarts) and the damn light is on... i need some light on this.. there was a oil leak and i sense that the damn pan must be changed soon.. maybe a simple motor swap will change all these problems

Well what are you asking for help with? Where is it leaking oil? Head gasket? Oil pan? Is it throwing any codes? I say you do a compression test and post the results. You could swap in another b18b1 for $500 or so. They are not very expensive.

why 5 qts of oil? it takes 4qts tops .... now on the oil light i would first change the oil pressure switch , then drop the oil pan and clean the pickup screen as it may be clogged with particals ... if that doesent solve the problem then you need to hook up a oil pressure gauge and see how much pressure you have ... if it is really low then a oil pump would be in order .... it is possible for it to be the wiring but do the pressure test first ...

the battery light usually means that you need a alternator

good luck ...

Yea I didnt notice that. 5 quarts is too much oil dont run it like that. Drain out about a quart and then check your oil level.

How'd you fit 5 quarts of oil if it's supposed to only hold 4?

you realize that ou can put like 8 or 9 qts of oil in the motor and it wont flow out. Just dont run it. 4 qts. oil light can lead to a pressure problem.

check your ground connections. check the ground to the starter and the ground between the valve cover and radiator support. do an oil pressure test and post the results. a compression test would be a good thing to do also. post those results as well.

Sounds like your system is having a grounding problem. You will want to check all ground cables. The Battery light is caused when your alternator quits charging the battery, you might need to look into getting a new alternator not a new starter. You might want to look into getting a new set of ground wires. I know HKS makes a circle earth system that will run you about $100. That would be a good starting point.

If all of your OEM ground wires are connected and tight, and you are still having the starting problems, you might want to look into the circle earth grounding kit. IF you have a loose ground wire, then you would want to just fix the wire and see if that fixes the prob.

Another thing that you might be having problems with is the battery terminal. If they aren't connecting tightly to the terminal, then you might want to look at replacing those also.
