Default Possible timing problem?

I just bought a DA recently snd the guy i bought it from said that it possibly had a timing issue because only tow cylinders were firing. He tried flipping the distributor over and then they two cylinders that were firing stopped and the ones that weren't started firing.
When I got it home I thought that perhaps the wires were crossed, so I just experimented and swapped the wires for cylinder 2 and three. Now they all fire, but the RPMs are fluctuating between 2500 and 3000 and there are no codes being thrown. Does anyone have an opinion on what the problem could be? Thanx

I just bought a DA and I ran though what you just ran through. I checked my timing and it seems like my timing jumped a tooth or 2. Then it sounded like a Suby. After that the car won't start no more. Did you check your timing if its at TDC?

no the truth is that i just bought the car yesterday and i had it towed today so i haven't really had that much time to look it over.

Note: At higher RPMs the distributor starts to spark, maybe theres a short to ground and, that could be causing a misfire.
