Default Problem Adjusting timing

I just bought a brand new distributor from Diststributor King and recieved it today. I put it on my 1993 Integra LS and the car started right up. So I went to adjust the timing and jumpered the two wires on the passenger side under the dash, and adusted the timing with a timing light.

I ran into a problem adjusting the timing. When I adjust the distributer clockwise it starts getting closer to where it needs to be, but now it is maxed out and I can not adjust it any more. Now what should I do. I am sure that all the plug wires are correct. Also when I take off the cap the rotor is pointed to the #1 cylinder when the motor is at top dead center.

I've ran into this problem with aftermarket distributors. It will only adjust to about 12 degrees.Get one from Honda the quality is much better anyway.

Your timing might be off at the belt. Could be just the intake cam, or both.

i'm assuming you replaced the dist. because it siezed or the coil or ignitor took a ****.How did it run prior to replacing it?If it ran good than your mechanical timing is fine, but if you really want to check it you'll have to remove the valve cover and line up your timing marks. But like I said before aftermarket dist. are junk!

Yes the car ran fine before distributor took a dump on me. The cap and rotor were both messed up, also there is a little gear inside that all the teeth were busted up and chewed off. Plus the shaft that the distributor cap mounts on had lots of play in it.

Couldnt I always just dremel out the holes to give it more adjustment?

Well I guess I will call Distributor King tomorrow or Monday if they are not open tomorrow. Do you think it is a bad idea to drive the car right now? It bogs down low and feel gutless, but starts and idles fine. Could I cause any damage? I'm assuming it's retarded and not advanced.

Damn distributor king is not open today so I don't know if I should grind out the holes or wait until Monday.
