Possible timing off?
So I just purchased a 1996 Acura integra ls with the b18b1. It has the gsr transmission and a different ecu. So when I drove the car the first time in a lower gear and I got higher in the rpms around 3500-4000 the engine would like misfire and skip up and down by about 100 rpms and continue to accelerate. If you’ve ever played forza it’s like when you take engine damage and it skips😂. When I got it home I let it sit and I drove it again to see if it still had the problem and I went full send on the throttle up to redline and it didn’t happen. The car has a new distributer so I’m wondering if the timing wasn’t done right. There are new yonaka motor mounts so that’s ruled out. Any advice on what this may be would be greatly appreciated.

STOP revving the engine to redline. That's how **** gets fucked up. From your question, it sounds like you aren't mechanically inclined to do any repairs.

I know how to do repairs so don’t question my ability. This is a project car/ track car anyway so why would it be any different than the track. Thanks for the lack of help.

Check ignition and the mechanical timing. Use a gun to check the ignition timing. Pull the VC off and set the cams to TDC and check the cam gears and the oil pump mark to confirm mech. timing is good.

I think I found out what the problem is. I think it’s a bad cam position sensor. It would explain the rough idle and breaking up in the top end. Thanks for the help
