Default PLEASE HELP,Tranny Problem

I was driving home from work just now,as i was about half way home,i notcied when i shifted into gears the car would kinda buck forward, also make a weird noice when the clutch engaged. When i turned the car it would also make a weird noise. When i was driving it the gears wouldnt stay in place, they would pop out.Not out of the gear but they would move slightly.I got home and put the car on a ramp and noticed my driver side axle looks too be broken. The cv boot has a hole in it and i can feel the oil in there, also looks too be a little crack around part of the axle.Would this be it?Also how much would a new one be and how hard is it too install?
