please help got a question about VTECH
ALright first off i just need help figureing out what the hell i have. I bought the car yesterday and it was suposedly had the GSR swap done to it. But i did some searching and the casting nubers on the block says its a B18B1 and thats the normal engine that comes in the normal integras right? Well the thing is that its says DOHC Vtech on the Valve cover. and also when driving i can tell it has Vtech so i dont know what to think shouldnt the b18b1 b non vtech...well thats what i thought so is it even possible to convert a b18b1 to a vtech??? Well i hope u can help me out.
~Thanks

Gah you newb. it's spelt Vtec. Idiot.
Maybe there was a head swap done on the car to convert it to VTEC if you're feeling it.
If you look beside the distributor (do you know what that is?) Look for a solenoid in the other "plug" hole instead of just a plug. If you have the solenoid there then you have a vtec head on a non-vtec block. Aka Ls/Vtec.

it all depends on how the ls-v was built. when you bought the car you didn't question the person who was selling it to you? maybe you should contact them and see if you can get some specs on what has been done that way you can be a little more "in the know" when it comes to your own car.

don't just type "ls/vtec" tons of threads about different things, just get something you want to look for in a ls/vtec.
oh, and it's VTEC not VTECH....
hahahaha reminds me of this one VW, the rear windshield had a sticker that said
"not a VTECH, but shure as hell can pull"..hahaha what a moron
you have a good engine, it has potential
welcome to the b series world, have fun
