First off i have a 96 teg Auto. My car is throwing a CEL #9 CYP Sensor. I did the search already but it didn't really help me. Can someone describe this sensor wat it looks like and where can it be located ? My car is running fine but the second i put it in drive it sputters and stalls then die, its weird cause it works in reverse. Someone please help me i need my car running and it stuck at a friends house

 

Well # 9 is "No 1 Cylinder Position" if that helps...but I really don't know what kind of problem that would indicate.

 

Cylinder position sensor is in the distributor, isn't it? I don't have the book with me. I don't know what you can buy, or maybe have to replace the whole distributor??

The bit about drive vs. reverse is weird, tho... Maybe the wiring to the distributor is being pulled too far? Does this mean that maybe you've got an engine mount problem that allows your engine to move too much?

 

Can anyone else please help ? i have no idea how im gonna start fixing this. I dont kno if the problem is in the cylinder or the distributor.
