Please Help
I've got a high strung rattle at exactly 3500 rpms in my 97 gsr. It only rattles when the needle is pointed directly at 3500 and doesn't happen all the time. Almost sounds like a heat shield. Any help?

i have the same exact problem........from 0-3400 rpm...its quiet, 3500-3700 its rattles....3800 on it stops the rattling....i thought its the heat shield...took off the front, still rattles......havent had time to go to take out the back heat shield and i also was assuming it might be the cat. anyone know this problem please help
also, when im doing like 70 or so, its in the rpm of the rattling noise...sits between 3500-3700, it gets annoying...i have to do like 80 to pass that noise or go below like 65 or so.....
i had it on mine. after replacing the cat heatshields I figured out it was the heatshield on the stock exhaust b-pipe. Just used a metal clamp on it.
several heat shields can rattle under the car ... i hear even the little heat shield thats directly on the cat can rattle ... and the cat can rattle internally if its bad ...

the clamp method seems to be the easiest fix. I had a local muffler shop cut out some small holes (about 1/2") from the a and b pipe at different points and then spot weld the outer shield and inner pipe together. no more rattle. cost $15-20. Didn't think about the clamp idea at the time.
