Heat shield
I took off the heat shield from my cat becuase it was makin alot of noise and i was just wondering if it is bad for my car someone told me it could catch on fire or somethin like that.
you mean you took off the metal looking covers around your cat? how were they making noise? i get an annoying rattle around 4200 that i can't seem to figure out, i should try that...
yeah i have a rattle too, as the rpm starts to come down, and on reverse. I know its the heat shield, but i didnt know if its ok to take it off or not. I guess i will take it off tommorrow.

Mine has been doing it for a couple of weeks. Has to be the cats, since I have no other shields. Hard to be cool with the honeys when my car sounds like a tin can
Just a heads up to GSR owners: the A-pipe (pipe between the exhaust manifold and the cat) has been known to rattle/vibrate. It usually happens around 3-4k rpm's. The fix is to replace it.
Man I got that samw annoying noise, it happens at 3k to 4k and its bad, I even get a noise when shifting sounds like a shift light from the noise, that **** sucks yea, i need to replace it, i thought it was the heat sheild on the cat

I drove my GSR cross country and back with no heatsheild on my cat.
No problems.
The drive back was a straight drive. Just stopping for gas and bathroom. Just me and the car going non stop w/ no sleep for 24 consecutive hours.
