Default Piston Scratch (useable)?

A freind of mine wants to sell me some usdm itr pistons that are slightly used but i noticed they have lil scratches around the dome are circled in this example pic

<U>*this is not the real piston*</U>



Is it useable with these scratches? or will they have sealing problems

that part of the piston does not touch the cylender wall, the rings doo.

yes its useable. Even pistons with dents on top from valve to piston contract are usable. Maybe lower ur compression slightly(VERY slightly) but it should be fine to use. Lets just say I would use it if I were you

best advise is not to be cheap and use "used pistons"
they already shaped like the old cylinder wall that they were in so
right now it will not smoke but down the road it will so best bet
is to buy new ones....
this is talking from experience...

Yes, I forgot to address that issue. That pistons will be shaped like the cylinder of the block that it came out of. So I kinda half answered the question.

its only a possiblity and theory. Dunno if it really happens in real life. It makes sense though. If we did everything by the book at work, we'd make no money.

lol well for the money i could spend on these i can buy some new set of si pistons which will yeild the same compression in my setup as some jdm p73's
