Default piston question

i'm currently in the process of doing a LS-V motor, with a fully rebuilt gsr head.....i want to know if i put aftermarket piston on stock rods will that be a good idea. cause i'm limited on money....i'm going all motor don't plan to rev my motor past 8000 rpm.....whats the bad and the good in the long run.

A friend of mine used B16a pistons with stock rods in his Ls/vtec. They're oversized by .5 mm for a larger bore and higher compression

the compression ratio is pretty high on ctr pistons, so depending on the tune, no wonder why your cousins car did not run well. Stock pistons are fine if you are on a buget, just need to choose the right stock piston for your application

To answer your question, you can run forged pistons on stock rods, but if you are going to spend all that money rebuilding your motor, aftermarket rods might not be a bad idea for some extra insurance.

if u looking for a nice budget internal try using either p73 or p30s. depending on what u want there is a lil machining required. those will be good for a gsr combo. pct's wil lnet around 12.5:1 and will run good if u can tune it correctly if not u run in to some trouble like higher octane etc etc .
