PCV question
Well, we dropped my B18 back into my 92 teg just about an hour ago... Fresh rebuild, I can't wait! But, I have a question about my PCV breather box... As it turns out, when I was stripping the engine a while back, I *broke*
off the nipple on top of the PCV breather box. This is the nipple that holds the line that goes up to the PCV valve, then back into the manifold...
I was in a rush, so I stuck the hose into the box itself. It was wedged in, so it's a tight fit, yet not vacuum-able (new word) by any means. My concern is that once I get everything started, that oil vapors, while still being able to travel to the PCV, some will be vented out at the top of the box, and result in an oil leak. Worse so, it might suck air in. Is this a possibility? My main concern is an oil leak... What do you guys think?

Well I don't think is is going to be a big deal w/ oil leakage becuase the PCV is mostly there to ventilate your crankshaft. So your dealing mostly w/ oil vapors and some oil but not enough to be worried about. However if you are running w/out the the PCV valve, which restricts air flow one way from the crankshaft to the IM (I can't quite tell from your post if you are or are not) you will lose crankcase ventilation which can lead problems such as premature oil breakdown which equals more engine wear and loss of HP and mpg's. Not a great deal but Honda put in the PCV system for a reason.
if youre not gonna repair it, at least secure it firmly somehow and put gobs of silicone all around it. the slightest leak will screw up your idle and its a bitch to get down there once you have the motor in.
