D-Series motor question
Hey guys, alright i have an oil leak and im trying to find out where its coming from. Its not coming from the pan its coming from up higher...i think i might have found it but i dont know what it is. its the black triangular box right next to the oil filter. can someone tell me what that is and if it is possible to leak oil from there?

That is a make shift factory "catch can" that is connected to the PCV.

It depends if that is really leaking, wash the back of the engine so that there is no oil or crud then look again in a day or two.

how would i wash back there with the motor in the car? just jack the car up and spray some water up there till the oil is gone? or what? haha

it's just the breather box for the PCV valve.
There is an o ring that I am positive is your problem. There is one bolt holding the box in place....it will pop right out and you can see whether or not the o-ring is bad.
You can get a new one at Honda or any hardware store.
And no, you don't need to drain the oil first
