Default Partial by-pass of power steering pump

It seems the power steering is getting more powerful with time. I have had this car since 1995, even with new tires I can now turn the car with my pinky.

I need increased steering effort but not full manual. Instead of removing the whole PS system I am thinking of installing a by-pass around the PS pump with a smaller diameter high pressure hose? Any one done this? Did it help?

loosen the PS belt and make it slip. that will make it harder to turn the wheels. It may squeek a bit on startup but its all good.
