Partial Hydrolock?
Last week it was raining here in socal and i may have a slight problem. I was driving on the freeway when i heard some gargling noises coming from where my intake is. I got off the freeway and got to a gas station and could not do much except turn my car off.
My car started fine and i took side streets home. The next morning i checked the oil and it was not cloudy and my car started fine, and the idle was fine. The problem is I've noticed a power loss. Not a huge one but its noticable. I was thinking that maybe my intake filter got dirty or something. I havent had the time to take it off and look, but what could I be looking at here? What should I do to make sure nothing got really messed up? How do i go about doing a compression leakdown test and can this be done by myself? Any help would be great.Thx

There is no such thing as partial hydrolock. You would have to suck a hell of a lot of water in before you can hydrolock an engine. Basically what hydrolock does is blow bearings and piston rings. What happens when an incompressable fluid (any liquid) enters an engine the compression stroke leaves the liquid no where to go. This generates massive hydraulic pressures and throws rod bearings, breaks rods, pistons, etc. Basically the engine will not run at all. The power loss maybe something mental, or you could have got bad gas at the gas station. Hope this helps.
100% agree to the fullest. Many people after an accident or something of that nature tend to pay attention to the details of their car alot more. Turn the radio up and forget about it, if it bugs you that much then go and have your tests done.
