INTAKE-- maybe a problem?
Okay so i just put in a new intake that i bought off of ebay in my Civic LX. Even though I didn't really know what i was doing, you guys were right-- it is fairly easy to put in. I ran into a few problems cuz the one ring wouldn't fit tightly over the seal so I had to manage with some metal wiring... I'll buy the right ring tomorrow.
But anyway-- I was test driving the car and I was at a redlight and as it turned green i took off into first. Then suddenly as I ran up to 4-5k RPM I heard a sucking/popping sound and my engine immediately lost power. That FREAKED me out. I pulled to the side, inspected everything and all the seals were still tight. Even the one that I had to rig with the twine.
Then I took off again, and the car was running fine like before. Any ideas of what could've happened.
Also my RPMs are running higher than usual-- but I'm guessing that's normal since more air means more fuel intake and therefore the engine has to over work. Am I right?

yea i definately had the filter on-- but i didn't spray any of that oil that's supposed to go on the filter cuz i have no effing clue where to pick it up. I went to pepboys and they sell it only in the package with a new performance filter.

You mean idle?
Take off the filter and look at it. Is part of it missing or is it still intact?
The sucking sound was probably just the air going through the intake. As for the popping sound, I have no idea as to what that was.
