Default overheating problems

today i was stuck in traffic on the highway and i looked down to see my temp gauge rising only when im at a complete stop, once i start driving again it starts to cool down back to normal temp. ive looked at the fan its working i dont know what else to look at and my over fill bottle is full with coolant so i think my radiator has enough coolant in it, any more suggestion could be great

Thermostat maybe, or maybe the water pump, although the symptoms, overheating when not moving does indicate an air flow problem.

What is the MM&Y of the car?
Any mods to the car?
Does car have A/C?

Have you made sure there is no "blockage" to the rad, [air can pass through rad freely] 94

Check and make sure there is no crap between the inter-cooler, condenser and rad.

If they are clear, remove the thermostat and see if that helps, [unlikely as a stuck thermostat would not be effected by the cars movement, but cheep to try].

More likely is a bad water pump, [bent/damaged impellers] at low RPM not enough water is being pumped through system as it would at higher RPM, and along with more airflow with car moving cooling would be better.

See if brining the RPM up when sitting still brings the engine temp. down. 94
